Hi Sandeep
I agree that employment would be the real driver for India, which inturn means requirement of stimulus in education system. As many of the unemployed in urban as well as rural areas are qualified for jobs that involve more physical activity, it is imperative that they be imparted specific education and expertise to turn into entrepreneurs.
Do you think the outsourcing industry that boomed in the recent past can be a harbinger of better times or feel the pressure of onshoring.
Thank you.

Prashant:

Thanks for your comment and great photos on your blog.

I agree with your argument about government spending to boost the economy - but I would argue that while the government could be the big spender of last resort, it should not be solely in infrastructure and agriculture. Because the key driver of our economy is Employment.

Let us not forget that we need to boost entrepreneurship and the merchant class as well as large businesses - because they not the government employ the largest pools of Indians and they will keep doing so for the foreseeable future. Yes some infrastructure spending will trickle down to the private sector, but its a great time to look at longer term goals as well.

I agree that just focusing on Interest Rate cut is just a monetary policy jugglery which interests only the stock exchanges and economists, but for the common person its value diminishes very quickly.

Hi,

Truly as you state, though the economy may have been insulated to an extent due to the regulation of banks, the worst is yet to come. However, I do not believe the cutting of interest rates, SLR and CRR would really help in reviving the economy.

I believe government spending would be the key. True that the elections in 2009 would lead to a lot of money flowing in, however this is ot enough. More heavy spending in infrastructure( roads, rails, healthcare) and strategic investments in developing agriculture is necessary. In the short term it may lead to a cash crunch, but it would effectively bail out the economy in the long run..

I think this is a fantastic idea. I would like to see more and more Indian companies pick up this topic as well.

From my first look at your blog, it looks like a mix between Sustainability, Social Innovation and Welfare topics. Great going. I will link to your blog and re-post some topics here to help widen your reach
