Air France vs Air America

without comments

I had the pleasure of taking my lovely bride to Paris to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary recently. And while, I will not bore you with what we did in Paris or Provence, I do want to share the experience we had to and from Paris.

We flew Air France into Paris from Boston. The service was very European (and by that I mean, subtle, elegant and matter of fact), the food was okay (seriously, anyone who flies for the food, whichever class, needs to have their head examined) but the wine was what I was impressed about.

We started off with a glass of Champagne, followed by our choice of White (wife) or Red (moi) wine. But the best of this was when the plates were cleared and we were satiated, the air hostess…oops, flight attendant, came around with a glass of cognac – which I savored as well. Oh, did I mention this was in economy.

On the way back we flew Air America, okay Continental, but they are all the same. The service was very American (and by that I mean, friendly), the food was okay and the wine was $5. To those who think – the service was friendly, whatchyoutalkinabout ? Well a baby threw up and the entire staff helped, always smiling, to clean the seats, to reseat the parents, etc etc.

So, here is the gist of this post – Fly Air France if you want to have some pretty classy beverage service, fly Air America, if you have a baby who is planning some exciting gastric adventures.
